There is a substantial and growing number of artists whose performance work does not fit the current frames of disciplines such as “dance” and “theatre”. These works call into question the current notions of the above mentioned categories and embody the poetic visions of each particular work, rather than conforming to the pre existing ideas of what theatre or dance or performance is. Without tending to mystify or to state that these types of works are “better” or “more important” than any other we will bluntly state that these works bring the necessary difference (the Other) to the dominant representational stage practices. This is the art Het Veem Theater is interested in.
